Book Selection for September

We'll be heading into the beginnings of the nineteenth century, a time of war and exploration.

The three books to choose from are:

  • War and Peace, by Leo Tolstoy (1424 pages, Napoleonic Wars)
  • The Journals of Lewis & Clark, by Meriwether Lewis and John Clark (576 pages, Lewis & Clark Expedition)
  • The Naval War of 1812, by Theodore Roosevelt (500 pages, The War of 1812)

And our comment winner for August is Shimmy Mom. You can choose to have A Tale of Two Cities sent to you or a $10 Amazon.com gift certificate. (New rule, formed due to last month's glitch.)

Whoo hoo. I've never won anything, I'm so excited! I do already own A Tale of Two Cities, so I will choose the gift card please. My email is shimmywith4@yahoo.com. Let me know yours and we can work everything out.
Thanks so much

Congrats!

And wow, War and Peace. I know it's on the 'must read' list, but I'm not sure I'm quite up the that one just yet....

Mrs. Brooke,

I have only briefly looked at your blog, but can tell from the pictures that you are a very busy woman!

I happened across your Reading Through History "Club" and have read all the selections to date. I am so grateful you are putting this list together. I hope you are not discouraged by the low number of voters. I look forward, like a child anticipating dessert, to "What's next?" Even if you don't have time to comment on a selection (life gets like that at times), just keep listing them for us...for me!

I agree War and Peace is long but that was my vote. Whatever is decided I'll read...but I'll read War and Peace too...it just may take me longer than a month to finish it!

With Sincere Gratitude,
